List of Gazetted and Restricted Holidays 2025

People who work for the government get better holiday benefits than people who work in the private sector. The Central Government has set up different leave programs just for women who work for the central government or a state government. All year long, government buildings are usually closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, employees of the national and state governments get a lot of holidays, and all public sector workers get a lot of vacation days every year.

Gazetted Holidays List 2025

The Central Government DOPT Office 2025 has a set list of holidays that everyone must follow. These holidays in India are called gazetted holidays. On these days, government buildings and businesses in the private sector are closed in India. The Central Government releases a full list of holidays for the next year every June.

This calendar comes from an official letter from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). It separates gazetted holidays and restricted holidays. At first, the list has 14 required dates. Following that, people are given the freedom to pick three holidays from the first 14, giving them a total of 17 days off. These 17 days make up the Gazetted Holidays that Central government workers are entitled to.
