History of Haryana
Haryana districts began on November 1, 1966, when the state was split from Punjab. This happened after East Punjab was partitioned. At its establishment, Haryana had seven districts: Jind, Rohtak, Hisar, Gurgaon, Ambala, Karnal, and Mahendragarh. Haryana has 15 more districts than the seven created. Charkhi Dadri, created in 2016 by splitting it from Bhiwani, is Haryana’s newest district.
