Full List of Chief Ministers of Manipur: Princely Manipur in northeastern India joined the Indian Union on October 15, 1949. After the Maharaja of Manipur and India signed the Merger Agreement. Integration sought to unite India’s varied regions post-independence. Manipur became a state on January 21, 1972. N. Biren Singh was Manipur’s chief minister on February 9, 2025.
He resigned amid Meitei-Kuki ethnic hostilities that had killed and displaced many. His resignation preceded a legislative assembly session to vote on an opposition no-confidence resolution.
