Refund eligibility for specific trains:

Regulations limit refunds to trains delayed more than three hours.

Cancellation fees apply to passengers who change their travel plans. Ticket type and cancellation time determine cancellation fees.

Here are the main points:

1. Confirmed ticket cancellation fees (over 48 hours):

  • AC First/Executive Class: Rs 240 per passenger fixed cancellation fee
  • AC 2-Tier/First Class: 200 Rs
  • AC 3-Tier/AC Chair Car/AC-3 Economy: 180 Rs
  • Second Class: Rs 60

2. Departure cancellation within 48 hours to 12 hours:

  • 25% of the entire fare (minimum flat cancellation charge).

3. Cancellation within 12–4 hours of departure:

  • A minimum flat cancellation charge per class applies to 50% of the entire fare.

4. RAC/waitlisted ticket cancellation 30 minutes before departure:

  • Complete reimbursement after deducting per-person clerkage.

Refund facility closed for Private trains

Passengers will not be able to demand damages if private trains run late. The facility has been closed since February 15, 2024. Irct was started to operate catering and tourism activities of railways. Irct offers many services, like ticket booking. The IRCTC also refused to explain the reason for the closure by citing a privacy policy regarding the decision to discontinue the penalty for delay of private trains.
