The Meteorological Department has issued an alert; cold will increase in the state in the next two days. There will be dense fog in many districts, and there may be rain with thunderstorms. Light to moderate fog will prevail late tonight and early morning. According to the report, light to moderate rains may occur in many districts of the state during the next 24 hours. Along with this, the effect of fog and cold winds will continue in some areas. On December 27, there is a possibility of thundershowers in some areas.

Here’s what you need to know about the Railways’ refund policy:
- Confirmed, RAC, and waiting ticket holders receive full refunds for train delays over three hours.
- Train delays allow passengers to cancel and receive a full refund.
- If you have an e-ticket, fill out an online TDR before the train leaves to get a complete refund.
- To receive a complete refund, you must cancel your reservation counter ticket.
- The booking bank account receives e-ticket refunds within 3–7 business days.
- Note that canceling tickets after the train leaves prevents full refunds.

Refund eligibility for specific trains:
Regulations limit refunds to trains delayed more than three hours.
Cancellation fees apply to passengers who change their travel plans. Ticket type and cancellation time determine cancellation fees.
Here are the main points:
1. Confirmed ticket cancellation fees (over 48 hours):
- AC First/Executive Class: Rs 240 per passenger fixed cancellation fee
- AC 2-Tier/First Class: 200 Rs
- AC 3-Tier/AC Chair Car/AC-3 Economy: 180 Rs
- Second Class: Rs 60
2. Departure cancellation within 48 hours to 12 hours:
- 25% of the entire fare (minimum flat cancellation charge).
3. Cancellation within 12–4 hours of departure:
- A minimum flat cancellation charge per class applies to 50% of the entire fare.
4. RAC/waitlisted ticket cancellation 30 minutes before departure:
- Complete reimbursement after deducting per-person clerkage.
Refund facility closed for Private trains
Passengers will not be able to demand damages if private trains run late. The facility has been closed since February 15, 2024. Irct was started to operate catering and tourism activities of railways. Irct offers many services, like ticket booking. The IRCTC also refused to explain the reason for the closure by citing a privacy policy regarding the decision to discontinue the penalty for delay of private trains.
How much money has been paid in fines?
Passengers cannot demand damages only if private trains are late. Passengers can still demand refunds if government trains are late. Two private trains are currently being operated. The first is the Delhi-Lucknow Tejas, and the second is the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas.
Due to the delay of trains from October 4, 2019 to February 16 earlier this year, IRCTC had to pay a fine of Rs 26 lakh. Only in FY 2023-24, passengers were given Rs 15.65 lakh as compensation.
