List of Fastest 100 in IPL: T20 cricket’s most explosive innings have come in the IPL, including numerous quick hundreds. Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century against the now-defunct Pune Warriors in IPL 2013 is the fastest in tournament history.

Gayle scored an unbeaten 175 off 66 deliveries for Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Bengaluru) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the highest T20 score. His remarkable innings led the home team to a 130-run win. The West Indian superstar hit 17 sixes and 13 fours, breaking an IPL innings record.

Chris Gayle

In 2013, Chris Gayle hit 175* in 30 balls against Pune Warriors India in Bengaluru.

  • At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Gayle broke new T20 records. His 30-ball century is the quickest after 12 years, while his undefeated 175 is the best single score in IPL history.
  • Following a careful opening over, Gayle scored 17 balls with 21 off Ishwar Pandey and 28 off Mitchell Marsh.
  • Gayle got his century in the ninth over, and Aaron Finch’s 29-run over helped support the cause.
  • In his first 103 runs, he struck 98 boundaries. He grabbed two wickets to finish a weird day and scored 175 unbroken.

Yusuf Pathan: 37 balls, 100 against. Mumbai Indians (MI), Brabourne, 2010.

  • Pathan teed off, as the Rajasthan Royals (RR) needed 143 from 57 balls to catch MI’s 212.
  • Including three sixes off Ali Murtaza and 24 against R. Sathish, he hammered 54 off his following 11 deliveries.
  • To finish the quickest IPL century, he hit a six.
  • He was run out on the next ball, leaving RR with 40 runs from 17 balls—a significant deficit.
  • Shane Warne, his skipper, however, termed it the finest innings ever.

In 2013 at Mohali, David Miller scored 101* in 38 balls against RCB.

  • Miller’s 38-ball century helped Kings XI Punjab (now PBKS) recover from 64 for 4 to score 99 runs in the final five overs.
  • Vinay Kumar struck RP Singh with multiple boundaries before sending him out for 26 in a one-over.
  • With three runs required, at 95, Miller finished his century by sending a long ball over the sightscreen.
  • Miller repeated his father’s orders following the game: “V means tree. If a tree falls into the arc, it’s out of the park.

Travis Head: 102 against RCB, Bengaluru, 2024, on 39 balls.

  • Earlier in the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Head had shown their resolve with a 277-run onslaught.
  • They became better in Bengaluru.
  • Head set the tone with a powerplay assault that brought SRH to 76 for 0, including his fifty.
  • Before his 13th-over expulsion for 41 balls and 102 runs, SRH reached 165.
  • Their 287 was the top IPL score.

In Mullanpur in 2025, Priyansh Arya scored 103 runs in 39 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

  • After an auction bidding battle, PBKS acquired 24-year-old Delhi starter Arya for INR 3.8 crore; he is already performing.
  • After a 23-ball 47 on debut, Arya lived up to his commitment against CSK.
  • Opening with a first-ball six, he refused to allow wickets at the other end to distract him.
  • In the 13th over, he then struck Matheesha Pathirana for three sixes and a four to record his first IPL century.

In Hyderabad in 2025, Abhishek Sharma scored 141 off 40 balls against PBKS.

  • To reach 246, SRH required a quick start; Abhishek gave it. In his first five balls, he hit four fours.
  • On 32, he was caught at a deep, backward point; Yash Thakur overstepped.
  • Sixing the following ball caused Abhishek to rub it in. In 19 balls, he scored his first fifty and surpassed Travis Head in a 171-run opening stand in 12.2 overs.
  • A minor surprise came when he softly turned the ball on the leg side to reach 100 for a single.
  • The highest IPL score for an Indian was 141 from 55 balls.
