What does X’mean?

An ‘X’ Mark is made on the last compartment of ordinary trains to give a clear signal to station staff and railway officials that the train has passed through. If a train does not see this mark, it is a sign that a coach of the train has left in the middle of the way.

This safety procedure alerts the railways to take emergency steps immediately. The trail is usually made in yellow or white so that it can be easily seen from a distance.

Why is there no ‘X’ on Vande Bharat Express?

The Vande Bharat Express, which is a semi-high-speed and state-of-the-art train, does not need this mark due to its special structure. The main reason for this is that Vande Bharat is a fully integrated (etched) train. Its cans cannot be separated in any case. Moreover, this train is capable of running in both directions, i.e., it does not need separate engine addition.

Vande Bharat Express is equipped with modern security technologies, including multiple sensors and surveillance systems. This technology monitors the position and structure of the train at all times. In this case, there is no need to mark’ X’.

Not only is Vande Bharat express technologically advanced, it has also given new dimensions to traditional modes of safety and operation. The’ X’Mark may be necessary for conventional trains, but Vande Bharat’s high-tech design and structure make it unnecessary. This train is a strong step towards the future of Indian Railways.
