Jammu and Kashmir Public Holidays List 2025: The lieutenant governor’s decision to exclude holidays honoring 1931 martyrs and party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah from 2025’s list disappointed the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir. “Today’s list of holidays and the decision reflect the BJP’s disregard for Kashmir’s history and democratic struggle,” National Conference (NC) chief spokesman Tanvir Sadiq wrote on X on Sunday night.
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hinted about restoring Article 370-abolished vacations. We had hoped for holidays honoring Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and the July 13th martyrs, but their absence does not reduce their significance or our heritage. Sadiq mentioned in the post that these holidays will return. Jammu & Kashmir declared July 13 a public holiday to honor the 23 men killed by Dogra Maharaja’s army in 1931.
