In the auction, the Punjab franchise wanted to rebuild its entire team. Punjab, having entered the auction with the highest purse, acquired Shreyas Iyer by paying a substantial amount.
In a day or two, there will be an official confirmation of his elevation as captain. Shreyas Iyer, who made Kolkata the champion in 2024, received a bid of Rs 26.75. Punjab Kings spent Rs 18 crore each on Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal. The team also had several Indian and foreign all-rounders like Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera and Harpreet Brar in the auction.
